Georgian Jewelry 1714 - 1837
The Georgian period includes the reigns of several Georges (I, II, II, IV), with many styles from Rococo to Gothic to Neoclassical. Men were at the forefront of designs with fobs and watch chains for everyday adornment. Signet rings indicated status, hand-made glass paste became the alternative to diamonds, and "pinchbeck" gold was invented. Pieces have a distinctly hand-made look, with bezel settings and delicate enamel work and beautiful Old Mine Cut Diamonds among the other gemstones.
