Georgian Cased Gold Fob with Chalcedony Stone Insignia (Truth)

$350.00
This piece resonated with me when I found it on a recent trip to Vegas: the insignia contains the word “Truth” in a beautiful cursive font, a reminder that the quest for knowledge is timeless and as important now as ever before. The gold cased fob has scrolling foliate details with leaves climbing up to the top and connecting to bail. The chalcedony is a striking green with flecks of yellow and darker hues of green visible through the stone. Circa 1820, gold casing was a common way of making fobs in the Georgian era, using a thick layer of gold to cover the base metal underneath it—which, because of its age—is beginning to peak through the top layer of the gold.

The fob measures 1 1/8” x 5/8” and weighs 5.23 grams.
