Circa the 1890’s, this 18k gold charm is a very detailed hoof that would be found on a faun or a hooved animal like a goat, ram, or boar. It is rendered with lifelike fur and split down the middle of the hoof. The charm makes us think of Pan, the Greek god of the wild, and something about it suggests a bit of naughtiness and debauchery! This charm is a great conversation piece to add to your charm ensemble.
The charm weighs 2.1 grams. It measures 3/4” (1” including the bail) x 1/4”. The hoof is 18k gold; the bail and jump ring are 14k gold. Unmarked but acid tests as 18k and 14k.
