This extraordinary leaf-shaped pendant is studded with gorgeous chunky Old Mine Cut diamonds. We believe this was once part of a tiara and was most likely the shape that adorned the headless. We added an ample size 14k gold bail so that it could be worn as a pedant. As was a common of the Victorian era, the front is sterling silver with a beautiful darkened patina, and the back is 14k gold. The diamonds are graduated in size—a gorgeous selection of unique, well-matched stones with intricate sparkle. The leaf is delineated by a stem through the center, and the pendant is slightly convex, giving it a beautiful organic shape. The back features open work that allows light to shine through the stones and makes the pendant beautiful to look at from both sides.
There are 28 natural Old Mine Cut diamonds that range in size from 1 mm - 3.25 mm. The diamonds are G-J in color, VS1- SL2 in clarity. The pendant contains approximately 1.5 carats. It measures 1 5/16” x 5/16”, plus an additional 8 x 5.5 mm bail. It weighs 2.58 grams. Unmarked, but acid tests as 14k gold and sterling silver.
Circa 1870, we found this piece paired with a similar, slightly larger leaf, which we converted into a pendant as well. The two pendants look gorgeous paired together on a chain. They are pictured here suspended together on our 21K Gold Delicate Ribbonlike Chain. The larger Old Mine Cut Diamond Leaf Shaped Large Pendant with Silver Front and Gold Back is also available in our shop.
