This drop-shaped rock crystal pendant is wrapped in a masterfully hand engraved and diamond encrusted cage setting. The 18k white gold setting swirls around the crystal, mimicking its shape to create a fabulous Art Deco-like piece. The piece is circa the 1970’s or 1980’s, but has the old school workmanship of an earlier era, like hand engraved foliate details and beautiful milgrain work. The drop pendant hangs from a diamond encrusted bail, connected by a single bezel set diamond. The piece was crafted with careful attention to detail, down to the tiny engravings on the back of the bail. When the rock crystal catches the light, it glows from within.
There are 65 natural diamonds. The rock crystal is encrusted with 57 diamonds that graduate in size as they swirl around the piece, ranging from 1 - 1.7 mm. There are 7 1 mm diamonds in the bail, and the single bezel set diamond is 3 mm. In total, there is approximately .95 of a carat of diamonds. The diamonds are SI2 in clarity, G-H in color.
The pendant measures 1 7/8” x 3/4” at its widest point. The chain is 15.75” long. The piece weighs 18.5 grams. Marked on both the bail and the clasp as 750 for 18k gold.
