Mid Century Abstract Taxco Sterling Silver Brooch

A striking Taxco, Mexico, brooch with an abstracted sterling silver design on a dark brown tortoise shell. The design leaves a lot to the imagination, looking a bit like a snake's head peaking out above some grass. The silver is cut graphically, and has nice contrast against the dark brown background. The back of the brooch is marked "CD" and there's a marked circle with "Taxco", "Sterling" and "925" .  

This piece dates to the 1950s and is made in Taxco, Mexico. Taxco boasts an international reputation for giving the world some of the highest quality and most stunning silver jewelry out there. This piece measures 2" by 1 1/4" and it weighs 7.3 grams.
