This vintage 14k gold Cartier medallion pendant features the Chi Phi letters stacked in a beautiful three-dimensional layered formation. The Chi symbol, which looks like an X, makes the top layer of the emblem and has pretty blue and red enamel around a leaf motif. The circular Phi symbol is layered below it, and the letters are mounted onto a round medallion that connects to an oval bail. We love that this pendant is esoteric and enigmatic, as it references one of the oldest college fraternities in the United States. Circa the 1940’s or 1950’s, this is a great vintage Cartier piece.
Chi Phi was formed in 1824, with roots to Princeton University. Its motto is “Truth, Honor, and Personal Integrity.” It is considered to be the oldest American men’s college social fraternity, and today has over 47,000 alumni and 48 chapters.
The pendant measures 15/16” across and has a nice weight of 9.9 grams. It is marked on the back as Cartier and 14K.
