Vintage 22K Gold Hand-Granulated Sunflower Earrings

$2,000.00
When looking at these sunflower shaped earrings, what strikes us first is the texture that’s been created by the gold granulation. Granulation is an 8th century B.C. jewelry technique where tiny spheres of gold are fused to a metal base. In these earrings, a dome surface is covered in the tiniest of granulated balls that have been hand placed and create the texture of seeds in a fully-bloomed sunflower. Around the exterior border, a series of three balls stacked together creates a repeated motif remniscent of tiny flower petals. The workmanship that went into this piece should not be underestimated; these are very special earrings. Looking at the glow of the high karat gold is amazing, and the granulation catches the light in a magical way.

Each earring measures 7/8” from top to bottom. The flower measures 1/2” across and is 1/8” deep. Combined, the earrings weigh 3.7 grams. Marked 22k gold.
