These vintage 18k gold Vendome half-hoop earrings were designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. They have a nice wide convex shape, broken up by a flat band on either side to give them a classical element. Circa the 1990’s, their bombe shape makes for a timeless variation of the chubby huggy hoop—a jewelry staple that never goes out of style. Paloma Picasso is a French fashion designer and the daughter of Pablo Picasso. She began her career as a costume designer in Paris in 1968, and began designing for Tiffany & Co. in 1980. She is described as having “a gift for finding beauty in unexpected places, from subway grates to an olive leaf” and her iconic designs are “imbued with an exuberant originality.”
The earrings have a nice weight to them and nice spring action that makes them both comfortable and secure to wear, with no backs to lose! They are marked on the inside with Tiffany & Co., Paloma Picasso, 750, and the copyright.
