Victorian Silver Front 14K Gold Backed Old European Cut Diamond Earrings

$5,000.00
These Victorian earrings feature stunning Old European Cut diamonds in a beautiful antique setting. Each earring contains one large and one small diamond in a bezel adorned with subtle milgrain work. The larger stone sits in an elegant carriage with hand-sawed crownlike cutouts. The fronts of the earrings are silver while the carriage and earring stems are 14k yellow gold. When examined closely, saw marks can be seen in the cutouts of the gold, a display of the jewelry making techniques of the Victorian era, a labor intensive handmade process that required immense attention to detail and care. These are a true antique treasure, as diamond earrings of this age are rare to find.

The natural antique Old European Cut diamonds make these earrings special and catch the light in an extraordinary sparkle. The larger stones measure 6 mm; the smaller stones measure 2.5 mm. One of the larger stones is VS2 in clarity, H-I in color. The other large stone is Included (as is the nature of antique diamonds), H-I in color. Combined, the total carat weight is approximately 1.9 of a carat ( the larger stones are .9 of a carat each, the smaller stones are .05 of a carat each).

The earrings are 5/8” x 3/4”. Combined, they weigh 2.25 grams. They are unmarked, but the backs acid test as 14k gold and the fronts acid test as silver. The earrings are hinged, with lever backs that make the earrings very secure.

Perfect for special occasions, these make great bridal earrings and add stunning sparkle to a cocktail dress. Their timeless design also allows for more casual, everyday wear.

For pierced ears.
