Circa the 1890’s, this heart-shaped 14k rose gold locket contains a beautiful hand engraved setting made to house a flower of Old European Cut diamonds. Seven diamonds are bead set into a delicate floral setting, and two additional diamonds are placed in equally beautifully carved leaves. The bead setting holds the diamonds in place, but also creates tiny lines down the center of the leaves and detailed edges around the petals of the flowers. The locket opens to a circular panel that could hold a picture. Carved cut outs allow the diamonds to appear on the interior panel of the locket, creating a beautiful image inside the frame.
We’ve paired the locket with a 1970’s vintage Italian chain in 14k gold. The chain has a visual twist to it, so it glistens and shimmers in the light. We thought the delicate chain looked adorable with the locket, so we’ve added it so that the locket is ready to wear!
The locket is unmarked and acid tests as 14k gold. The interior of the locket has a design number that is hand engraved. The chain is marked on the clasp as 14k Italian gold. The nine diamonds are bright and lively with excellent clarity.
The chain is 18” long. The locket measures 1” x 1 1/8”. Combined, they weigh 8 grams.
