This early Victorian-era 14k gold cased watch key can be used to wind up an antique watch, or can be worn as a charming pendant. The oval-facetted ruby-colored paste is set in an ornate bezel, and the stone’s foil back lights up the paste with vivid red hues. The key’s shape resembles a trumpet and features a beautifully carved scrolling floral and leaf pattern. The key is still functioning and hangs from a swivel bail, so it can be used to wind a watch while the piece hangs from a chain.
The key pendant is approximately 1.5 inches long, and its stone is 1/2 x 1/3 inch. It weighs 4 grams, with an ample oval bail measuring 7.7mm x 5.25mm.
