This is a powerful 14k gold signet ring circa 1900. The signet is carved in wonderful detail and complex imagery. In the center is a shield with a prancing lion amidst a background of three ladders. Above the shield is a knight’s helmet with a scrolling foliate, and below it is a banner with the words “Proprium deus et patrium” (which translates to “God and Patriotism”). This signet makes for a strong, powerful image that conveys valor and determination. The ring is in great condition, and a lovely patina brings depth to the imagery.
The ring is marked 14k. The name William M. Morris Jr. is engraved inside the ring. The perfect classic signet ring, it can be used as a wax seal. The ring weighs 14.85 grams. The top measures 3/4” x 5/8”.
Ring size 6.5 but because of the shape of the signet, it fits more like a 6.25. A great unisex ring.
