Circa the Victorian era, this 14k gold pearl encrusted pendant is finely done with beautiful craftsmanship. The heart shaped pendant is covered in pearl pave—the pearls have a great luster and the amount of pearls set within a small surface create a stunning visual texture. The pearls around the edge of the pendant are tiny and add another layer of detail to the piece. At the center of the heart, a ruby cabochon gives a pop of color that brings the piece to life.
The pendant was once a pin, but the pin was removed for contemporary use. There is still a hook on the back of the pendant, original to the piece, that allows an additional charm to be clipped in beneath it. Made with excellent craftsmanship, the bail at the top of the pendant is a folding bail that can be tucked into the back of the heart.
The pendant is 1” x 15/16”, with an additional 5.4 mm round bail. It weighs 5.47 grams. It is unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold. The pendant contains 84 2.25 mm pearls and 46 1 mm pearls. The ruby cabochon measures 4.5 mm with a weight of .44 carats.
