Victorian 14K Gold Opal 3-Leaf Clover Ring

$325.00
This is a sweet, dainty 14k gold Victorian ring with three opal cabochons that form the shape of a clover. The opals display a beautiful color play with purple, blue, green, and pink, offering a nice flash of color. The opals are held in a six-prong setting that appears delicately radial and starlike. A tiny swoop of gold creates a stem at the bottom of the clover.

In Victorian jewelry, there is often a symbolism to the subject matter. The three-leaf clover was considered to represent faith, hope, and love. Queen Victoria had a love for opals and often wore opal jewelry, even gifting the gemstones to her friends and daughters. As she was the major trend setter of the time, this brought opals into popularity during the Victorian era, and jewelry from the time is often adorned with these vibrant stones.

The ring contains three natural antique opal cabochons that measure approximately 3 mm each.

The face of the ring measures 1/4” x 1/4” and the band is 1.3 mm wide. The ring weighs 1.22 grams. Unmarked; acid tests as 14k.
