Victorian 14K Gold Diamond and Sapphire Eye-Shaped Pendant Necklace

$5,900.00
At first glance, this 14k gold necklace is reminiscent of an eye. Originally a Victorian era navette ring circa 1890, this piece was carefully converted into a necklace. The navette shape, when placed horizontally, takes on the look of an eye with sparkling with diamonds and a bright blue sapphire as the pupil in the center. The diamonds are stunning, near colorless Old Mine Cuts, with two larger Old European Cuts on either side of the sapphire. The stones are bead set in a 14k gold that has a rosy hue. The sides of the navette have beautiful carriage work, and when looked at closely, you can see where the ring shank was carefully removed. The pendant attaches to a 14k white gold chain with a nice lobster clasp. Eye-shaped amulets are often worn as talismans to ward off the evil eye, and this necklace can be worn for good luck and protection.

The necklace contains 38 natural antique diamonds. The diamonds are near colorless, G-H in color and VS2- SI2 in clarity. The two largest diamonds are Old European Cut; the rest of the diamonds are Old Mine Cut. They range in size from 2.1 to 3.25 mm. The TCW is approximately 2 carats of diamonds. The sapphire is a natural, antique, no heat sapphire from Cambodia. It measures 5.4 x 4.25 x 3.56 mm and has a TCW of 0.65 of a carat. The sapphire comes with GIA paperwork and has the GIA report # of 2233645950. There are slight abrasions to the surface of the sapphire that are age appropriate.

The navette pendant measures 1 1/4” x 5/16”. The chain measures 17”. The piece weighs 4.45 grams. The chain is marked as 14k gold and Italian. The pendant is unmarked and tests as 14k gold.
