Victorian 10K Gold Austro-Hungarian Men’s Signet Ring

Recently sourced on a trip to Prague, this crown-shaped signet ring is a perfect men’s ring circa the Victorian era. The borders of the shield-shaped signet are made up of scrolling foliate; at the top rests a little crown that is mirrored by details along the bottom of the shield. Along the sides of the band are nice hand-engraved detailings that extend halfway down the ring. The ring has a lovely patina that highlights the details of the engravings. In the center of the ring are the initials J and F in a floral font indicative of the Victorian age. 

The face of the signet measures 5/8” x 5/8”. The band measures 3/16” at its narrowest point and approximately 1/4” at its widest point. It weighs 5.9 grams. The ring has an unknown maker’s mark and acid tests to be 10k gold. Because of the density of the metal, this is a sturdy ring with a lot of presence on the hand, without being too heavy.
