These beautiful 22K and 18K gold hand-hammered earrings are encrusted with approximately 72 diamonds, set into a silver dome. The earrings were made by drilling tiny holes into the silver and carefully inserting diamonds into the holes, then bead setting them into place. The silver dome was then bezel set into 22k gold, which was hand-hammered for added beauty. The silver has acquired a patina that has darkened the setting, creating a gorgeous contrast against the diamonds and gold. The earrings have a beautiful handmade quality to them. The 22K gold is rich and luscious, and the earrings are reminiscent of the jewelry of ancient times.
The hand-hammered section of the earrings test as 22k gold—the softer gold is ideal for hammering and shaping. The earring posts and backs are 18k gold, and are marked as such.
The diamonds range from H-I in color and are I in clarity. They are single cut, each measuring 1.5 mm. Total carat weight of the diamonds is .60.
Each earring is 7/16” in diameter, and the dome is 1/4” high. Combined, the earrings weigh 4.8 grams.
Circa 2000. For pierced ears.
