We recently came across a pair of vintage gold nugget earrings and loved the design so much we made a similar pair with larger gold nuggets for our signature collection. Two well-matched flat gold nuggets are suspended from chains at different lengths that allow them to nestle next to each other in complementary placements. The chains loop into a Shepards hook earring that ties the earring together. The earrings have great movement and the gold nuggets shimmer and catch the light as they dangle from the ears.
Gold nuggets are formed by hot fluids flowing through cracks deep in the Earth’s crust. Weather eventually releases the nuggets into streams and bodies of water, where they are shaped by erosion and time. The free form dimensions of gold nuggets are organic and poetic, highlighting the buttery gold and extraordinary crevices.
Combined, the earrings weigh 3.7 grams. They dangle below the ear approximately 2” from the top of the hook. The nuggets vary in size but are each approximately 1/4” across. The nuggets are 22k gold; the rest of the earrings are 18k gold. The hooks are marked as 18k.
