This is a one of a kind necklace made from a 14 karat yellow Etruscan Revival jewelry segment, with a white sapphire, and a bold purple rhodolite garnet. The pendant hangs with graceful mobility on a decorative segment that attaches to a vintage gold chain. The chain measures approximately 9 inches on each side, making the pendant hang at the center of a 18 inch chain. The pendant remains fastened at the center but the tear drop shaped pendant swings freely. The garnet measures approximately 5.5 x 6 mm and the white sapphire is approximately 3 mm round. These have a beautiful color saturation and give a nice contrast to the yellow gold. The gold work around the tear drop is elaborate and the craftsmanship is superb, with added engraved details and organic designs.
A lovely signature piece, acid tested to 14K, the pendant is unmarked due to its age. The chain, which is a later addition, is stamped with 14K at the top. Circa 1880.
