A beautiful snake intertwines around an egg-shaped ball dotted with garnet cabochons. Utilizing a classic egg motif made popular by Fabergé, this makes for a powerful and menacing talisman. The detailed snake slivers down the center of the egg. It is framed by bezel set garnet cabochons that are vaguely eye-like and have an intriguing glow. Once covered in a layer of gold, most of the gilt has worn off, revealing the silver underneath and leaving the pendant with a warm hue.
The pendant contains an unidentifiable Russian hallmark on both the egg and the bail, as well as the Russian “88” silver mark. The pendant weighs 8.5 grams. It measures 1” x 3/4”, plus an additional 8 x 9.8 mm bail.
Circa the 1930’s or 1940’s.
