This papier mache snuff box is hand-painted with the portrait of a woman. Dark and mysterious, her face and body emerge from the shadows. The piece is cracking from age for a craquelure effect that adds to the beauty of the piece. 

The box measures 3 1/4” in diameter and 3/4” thick. There are a few small nicks to the paint and a chip on the rim, but overall the box is in great condition. 

Circa 1860.
