Large organic pieces of salmon-colored bamboo coral are the focal point of this bold necklace. Purchased from an estate as a parcel of bamboo coral, Kirsten’s Corner had the pieces knotted with silk thread and added a substantial 14k gold lobster clasp. This necklace is great for summer or for creating a dramatic look that brings attention to the neckline.
The pink bamboo coral (Keratoisis sp.) used in this necklace gets its name because its segmented skeleton is similar to bamboo plants. From the coast of Southern California, the coral in this necklace is un-dyed and the growth patterns of the coral can be seen on the ends of each piece. Natural coral is cool to the touch, with a satin like finish.
The necklace is 17 3/4” long, and the coral varies in width (most pieces are about 1 1/4” or 1 1/2”). The necklace weighs .77 lbs. The lobster clasp is 14k gold. A row of four connected 14k gold jump rings create a chain at the end of the necklace that allows you to clip into multiple places for varying lengths.
This stunning necklace has an almost tribal look--perfect for channeling your inner Raquel Welch!
