Nina Runsdorf 18K Gold Diamond and Garnet Flip Ring

This 18k rose gold flip ring is the iconic design by Nina Runsdorf that prompted her to start her jewelry brand in 2005. It features a large, 2.3 carat teardrop-shaped garnet that has the ability to flip back and forth, bringing a kinetic movement that is unique to see in a ring. The garnet is bezel set in an 18k gold border with delicate micro-pave diamonds on both sides of the bezel and around the edge. It is attached to the ring with a hinged element that allows for movement. The high level micro-pave work continues around the ring’s simple gold band, covering 3/4 of the band. The teardrop shape of the garnet, the clean and simple outlines of pave sparkle, and the graceful movement of the flip stone make this an elegant and feminine piece of jewelry.

Nina Runsdorf is a native New Yorker known for her flip ring design and “slice diamond” elements. Nina believes that jewelry should go beyond being a visual delight and should touch all the senses. The flip ring was originally inspired by the mobile sculptures of Alexander Calder, which often have movement powered by motors or air currents.

The ring contains a 2.3 carat natural garnet, visible on both sides. It also contains 0.53 carats of natural diamonds that measure 1 mm each.
