Sleek and sculptural, this 18k gold and sterling silver ring is a contemporary piece with a modern feel. Designed by Gabriel Ofiesh, the ring features an oval aquamarine cabochon in an 18k gold bezel, set into a square sterling silver band. The aquamarine is a beautiful glacial blue, stunning alongside the sterling silver. The yellow gold bezel outlines the aquamarine, beautifully defining its shape against the cool colors of the ring. The band is squared-off and slightly truncated to become thinner at the bottom. Part of Ofiesh’s new square ring collection, the clean and simple lines of the ring make this a graceful piece that is both hip and elegant.
Gabriel Ofiesh is a self-taught jewelry designer, whose philosophy is to incorporate untraditional methods and to design by trial and error. He uses tools and materials in unconventional ways, resulting in unique jewelry that are just as much sculptures as they are pieces of jewelry. Ofiesh began his career in the 1960’s, showing his work primarily at craft shows, until he established a national audience and galleries across the country. This type of jewelry is known as artisan jewelry, and this a beautifully handcrafted artisan piece!
The ring has wonderful presence on the hand. The cabochon is 18mm x 13mm and stands 11mm tall. The rectangular face of the ring measures 3/4” x 9/16”. The bottom of the band is narrower, measuring 7/16”. The aquamarine is 14 carats. The stone is set in an oval 18k gold setting; the ring band is sterling silver. The ring weighs 18.48 grams.
The interior of the band is marked with Ofiesh and the copyright on one side, and 18k and sterling on the other side. We don’t recommend resizing this ring due to the square shape.
