Hand Painted Papier Mache Snuff Box of a Woman circa 1850

This lovely papier mache snuff box features a painting of a mysterious woman with an off-the-shoulder dress and long flowing hair. A lovely, muted blue background compliments the woman’s blue eyes.

Circa 1850, the box is in nice condition with only minor chips to the paint and a crack to the top lid along the side, as to be expected from a piece this old. The box has friction closure, with visually equal halves that fit well together. The box measures 2 3/4” in diameter and 7/8” thick.
