A gorgeous Edwardian brooch or pendant featuring old mine cut diamonds and hand-carved opal hearts in a filigree pattern. It’s a symmetrical design resembling a floral bouquet with heart-shaped opals that spill out from the center.
The opals offer nice dimensionality and iridescence with a beautiful color play. They are meticulously carved, each set with a platinum bezel setting that hugs the stone snugly.
The 6 heart shaped opals measure 6 mm by 5 mm with a total carat weight of 8 carats. There are 27 bead set old mine cut diamonds. They range from the largest center stone of 4mm to the smaller stones being 2.5mm with 2.7 total diamond carat weight. They are bright and lively diamonds with a G/H color range and VS11 - SL11 in clarity.
This Edwardian piece looks great as a brooch or pendant. It measures 2” by 5/8” and weighs 9.6 grams.
Circa 1910, a superb piece of craftsmanship.
