These platinum Edwardian earrings sparkle with antique diamonds as they dangle beautifully from the ear. The top of the earring is a scrolling foliate that has been carved out and houses seven single cut and Old Mine Cut diamonds. The stones are bead set and surrounded by milgrain. The scrolling foliate shape is beautiful and feminine, reminiscent of a seashell. Dangling down from the top element are three Old European Cut diamonds that graduate in size. They are bezel set and the milgrain work continues along their borders. The earrings are graceful and elegant with gorgeous sparkle—perfect for evening wear and lovely as bridal earrings.
The earrings contain approximately 1.2 carats of natural antique diamonds. The diamonds have good color K-L and range from VS2 - SL2 in clarity. They have nice open culets offering a beautiful sparkle. We love that some of the Old Mine Cut diamonds in the top element of the earring have squarish tops, almost like table cuts, a slightly different version of an Old Mine Cut. The three graduated Old European Cuts measure 3 mm, 3.2 mm, and 4 mm.
The earrings test as platinum. The posts and friction backs are marked as 14k gold. Combined, the earrings weigh 5.2 grams. They measure 1 1/4” from top to bottom. The top element is 5/16” x 7/16” and the three dangling diamonds measure 7/8”.
