Edwardian Amethyst and Seed Pearl Sterling Silver Negligee Necklace

$695.00
This sterling silver Edwardian negligee necklace features amethyst cabochon tear drops that dangle from a larger amethyst centerpiece. The amethysts are modified emerald and pear-shaped cuts—smooth cabochon tops with faceted backs. The effect is very pretty: the stone is flush with the mount, but all the facets can be seen through the stone. The amethysts are Rose De France amethyst, a color of amethyst known for their paler, lilac tones. All three stones are bezel set in sterling silver; the two tear drops connect to rectangular stone with sterling silver bars, adorned with tiny pearls that boast blue-tones that perfectly complement the silver. The stones hang from a sterling silver chain.

The traditional design of a negligee necklace is two tear drop stones dangling from a larger stone, as seen in this piece. The design dates back to the Edwardian era, and makes for an alluring look that evokes the femininity of intimate wear. This piece is circa 1900, and was sourced on a recent trip to Prague.

The necklace contains a TCW of approximately 8 carats of natural antique amethyst. The rectangular amethyst measures 7/16” x 3/8” and the teardrop amethysts measure 5/8” x 5/16”.

The necklace weighs 4.78 grams. It is 16.25” long.

The height of the drop is 2” from top to bottom. The necklace is marked on the jump ring with the Austro-Hungarian marks and the mark for sterling silver.
