Early Victorian 12K Gold Rock Crystal and Bloodstone Tear Drop Fob

$450.00
Circa 1840, this watch key fob features a tear drop shaped bloodstone on one side and a rock crystal on the other. The bloodstone is a beautiful flat stone with flecks of red throughout; the rock crystal is faceted so that you can see into the fob. Around the sides of the fob is a pretty, engraved floral scrolling foliate. The fob was once a functional key, so it has swivel action that would allow it to wind a watch. Now, the swivel allows the top part of the key to be used as a bail.

The fob measures 1 3/8” x 1/2” and weighs 3 grams. The body of the fob acid tests as 12k gold, while the bottom key portion includes mixed metal for function.
