Drunken Minstrel Hand Painted Papier Mache Snuff Box circa 1850

A hand painted papier mache snuff box with the image of a drinking minstrel. This dates to about 1850 and is European and is in excellent condition having only the tiniest of paint chips. The turban headed man is pictured holding a glass for wine and a bag pipe like instrument. He looks like he has been drinking and suggests a festive environment. The image is superbly painted and emanates out of a dark background. It looks like a Frans Hals image and might have been taken from one of his popular painting of the time It is 3 1/2" in diameter, and round, this festive, snuff box could be the high light of your snuff box collection.
