Art Deco Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Arrow Jabot Pin

$6,900.00

This platinum diamond and sapphire jabot pin has an arrow design that was popular in the Art Deco era. This one has an elaborate motif within the feathered part of the arrow, known as the fletch. It begins with a square French cut sapphire, and from there, feathers are depicted with single cut diamonds and caliber cut sapphires that create a geometric pattern. The arrowhead is encrusted with five diamonds, and both the arrowhead and the fletch are flared out and emphasized by the milgrain work that holds the stones in place. We’ve added a bail to the tip of the arrow so that it can be worn as a pendant on a chain, as well as a pin. Circa the 1920’s, this is a perfect example of Art Deco jewelry and one of the prettiest designs of jabot that we’ve seen.

Jabot pins date back to the 18th century and were originally used for men’s clothing and scarves. They twist apart into two pieces in order to pierce fabric. There were several shapes commonly used for jabot pins—an arrow was one of them.

The pin contains 30 natural antique single cut diamonds that measure 1.5 mm each for a TCW of 1/2 carat. The diamonds are bright and lively.

The pin measures 3” x 13/16” and weighs 4.3 grams. To close, the pointed part of the pin is inserted into the fletch and locks in. Comes in a beautiful cream colored box that is not original to the piece but is an antique box.
