Circa the Art Deco era, this French two-toned 18k gold pendant depicts the Virgin Mary. The back piece of the pendant is 18k white gold; mounted on top in 18k yellow gold is the profile of Madonna with a beautiful halo around her. At the bottom of her vail are roses, a symbol of Mary’s sainthood. On the back of the pendant, the initials E.J. have been engraved in a scrolling foliate, along with the date 19-5-35, for May 19, 1935. The pendant is in very good shape and maintains crisp detail to the beautiful profile.
The pendant weights 1.07 grams. It measures 9/16” x 13/16”, plus an additional 3 x 5 mm bail. The pendant is marked with the French eagle head for 18k gold and contains an unidentified maker’s mark.
