9K Gold Edwardian Scottish Pigeon Match Pendant Award Medal

This is a beautiful 9 karat gold pendant-award from a pigeon match in 1906. It's marked for Glasgow, Scotland, and has beautiful cutout work with a thistle pattern of flowers and leaves on the front. It's mostly rose gold with some yellow gold wash around the front inscribed shield. The front inscription reads “Del from Bob” and the back reads “Won by Jas Buchanan” as well as “At Callander Pigeon Match, 1906”.

This piece measures 1 3/4” from top to bottom and is 1” wide. It weighs 8.5 grams and has a 6.7 mm bail opening that fits a variety chain sizes.


A "pigeon match" traditionally refers to a shooting contest where pigeons are released from traps and shot at by marksmen. Callander is a small town in the council area of Stirling in Scotland known as the gateway to the Highlands.
