19th Century Lava Sterling Silver Bracelet

This is a one of a kind sterling silver and carved lava rock bracelet. This piece is from the Mount Vesuvius volcanic are of Italy and was likely made some time in the 1880’s.

This fabulous piece has 11 unique, hand carved, busts of different women. The colors range from black to brown, olive-green, yellow to white. Each bust is approximately 3/4 of an inch in size. Laid flat, this bracelet measures to be 7”. It would accommodate up to a 6 1/2” wrist. Each bust is bezel set in sterling silver and linked with sterling silver links. This piece weighs approximately 16.30 grams. This piece securely closes with a box clasp. Although this piece is unmarked, I have acid-tested it as sterling silver.

This antique bracelet is in fantastic condition. It would make an elegant gift for someone who appreciates art history and fine jewelry. Alternatively, keep it for yourself and marvel at the latest addition to your antique jewelry collection!
