18K Gold Tiffany & Co. Paloma Picasso Graffiti Kiss Ring

$1,625.00

This 18k gold vintage Tiffany & Co. ring was designed by Paloma Picasso as part of her iconic 1980’s Graffiti collection. The design consists of X’s and O’x, representing hugs and kisses, overlapping in various sizes and shapes to create a wide band that wraps around the finger in a graffiti-esque font. The ring looks different from every angle, so there are a multitude of ways to wear the ring, each showing off a different section of the design. The open spaces within the band create an interesting outline and play off the many curves and angles of the shapes.

Paloma Picasso’s Graffiti collection was inspired by the urban street art of New York City, which was gaining respect as valid art form in the 1980’s. Paloma’s use of graffiti in fine jewelry helped to elevate it from what was once considered vandalism to a celebrated artistic medium.

Paloma Picasso is a French fashion designer and the daughter of Pablo Picasso. She began her career as a costume designer in Paris in 1968, and began designing for Tiffany & Co. in 1980. She is described as having “a gift for finding beauty in unexpected places, from subway grates to an olive leaf” and her iconic designs are “imbued with an exuberant originality.”

The ring is marked as 18k, 750, Tiffany & Co., and 1984, and is signed by Paloma Picasso. It weighs 5.48 grams. The band ranges from approximately 1/4” - 7/16”.
