18K Gold Tiffany & Co. Diamond Vintage X Ring

Tiffany & Co.’s signature classic “X” ring was designed by Jean Schlumberger, who famously described his aesthetic by saying “I try to make everything look as if it were growing, uneven, at random, organic, in motion.” In this 18k gold ring, a diamond X wraps over itself and feels fluid—almost like a starfish. There are 15 prong set diamonds that graduate in size and sparkle against the gold. The band is gently segmented into three ribbonlike waves, as if a continuation of the flowing central X. Timeless and graceful, this classic ring adds elegance to any outfit and looks beautiful on the hand. 

Jean Schlumberger was a French jewelry designer and artist who began collaborating with Tiffany & Co. in 1956 and designed many of their most iconic pieces. He often traveled to Bali, India, Thailand, and the Caribbean islands in search of the inspiration that is seen in his surreal and fiery designs. His most famous Tiffany & Co. pieces include the Bird on a Rock brooch, the Cooper Bracelet, and the 16 Stone Diamond Ring, and his jewelry was worn by Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, Greta Garbo, and the Duchess of Windsor. 

The ring weighs 5.57 grams and is 3/8” wide at the X. The 15 diamonds range in size from 1mm- 1.5mm; they are VS1 in clarity and G in color. This classic ring exists in two sizes—this is the smaller version of the ring. 

The ring is marked “Tiffany & Co.”, “750” and “1990”.
