Kirsten’s Corner has a great love for coral and for organic form. As an artist, she was instantly drawn to the organic and freeform branches of this particular piece of coral, as well as their deep saturated Sardinian red and high gloss sheen. She envisioned the top being capped, similar to how coral is often capped in Italy—but we added the diamonds and created a cap that would follow the organic line of the coral, with an elongated and wider horizontal band of diamonds that would more the asymmetrical form of the coral. The diamonds are bead set in a rhythmic placement, and the cap has an antique black rhodium finish that makes the diamonds pop against the 18k gold. The freeform branches and deep red are reminiscent of the heart’s arteries, and the shape of the piece has a whimsy to it that suggests movement and motion in the coral’s limbs.
The pendant contains approximately .35 of a carat of natural diamonds. The diamonds measure approximately 1.25 mm each.
The pendant measures 2 1/4” x 1 3/4”, plus an additional 6 x 9 mm bail. The cap measures 11/16” x 1/4”. The pendant weighs 6.8 grams.
The pendant looks great alone, but also pairs nicely with the 18K Gold Signature Branch Coral and Diamond Studded Earrings. Pictured here on our 18K Gold Handmade Vintage Belcher Link Chain.
