18K Gold Pear-Shaped Diamond in Collet Setting on a 16” Chain

$3,000.00
This beautiful pear-shaped diamond is elegantly set in an 18k yellow gold collet setting—one of the oldest gemstone settings in jewelry. First seen during the Renaissance era, the collet setting gained popularity because it was a secure and reliable way to mount precious gemstones. The jewel is set down into a mount with a certain amount of thickness to it. The prongs are both part of the mount and protrude from it to wrap around the edges of the jewel and hold it in place. The natural pear-shaped diamond in this necklace has stunning sparkle, and the pendant hangs from a dainty 18k gold chain. The collet setting gives the necklace a contemporary feel with an old world charm.

The natural pear-shaped diamond comes with a GIA certificate, report # 7518680036. It measures 5.85 x 3.89 x 2.4 mm and weighs 0.31 carats. It is J in color and VS1 in clarity.

The pendant measures 1/2” x 3/16”, including the fixed bail. (Not including the bail, the pendant’s height is 1/4”.) The chain is 16” and the piece weighs 2 grams. It is marked as Italian and 18k gold.
