A gorgeous Georgian-era heart locket and bracelet with a turquoise gemstone and ornate textured leaf motifs. This bracelet is a stunning combination of a lover's memento with a sophisticated design. The linked bracelet is an alternating patter of varied links, from round textured with an engine turn pattern, to smooth, bright yellow gold loops. The links are hollow gold, and have no maker's mark but were most likely modified from a longer piece. The links are Italian made and are of a later date, circa 1980, but fit perfectly with the Georgian designs of the 1830s. The links measure approximately 7-1/2 inches long, and the padlock that clasps them together is approximately 3/4 of an inch in size. The heart locket is a double sided charm; the original glass heart where one would keep their lover's hair is on one side, and on the other, a heart shaped turquoise gemstone flanked by two turquoise beads. The heart measures 1/2 an inch by 1/4 of an inch, and the circular beads are 4.3mm in size. The bright turquoise gems are enveloped by curling leaves on top of a textured background. The details on both of these elements are hand-made and well-considered. The padlock is in great shape for its age, and is beautifully complemented by the complicated and elegant design of the link-bracelet.
The bracelet weighs approximately 29 grams. It has been acid tested to 18K gold. It is a wonderful addition to any Georgian era jewelry collection. A rare find!
