On the front of this stunning 18k gold signet ring with a rectangular format is a shield topped with a crown. The crown has nine points, each topped with a perfect ball, and the shield contains three objects amidst a background of carved lines. A crown above a shield in a crest signifies royal lineage, so the original owner of this ring was of royal status, making this piece even more special to wear. The ring has a nice, heavy weight and the signet has good crisp detail and an outline that creates a beautiful border when pressed into wax.
The ring is marked with the French Owl hallmark, indicating the ring was sent to an assay office in Paris and tested; either the ring was made in France or imported at some point. We date the ring as circa 1900.
The ring weighs 19.25 grams. The rectangular top signet and its border measure 5/8” x 5/8”. The ring is in great condition, with age appropriate wear.
A classic piece, signet rings don’t get any better than this! A pleasure to wear.
