The inspiration for this piece came from a pair of Victorian cufflinks that had the image of a bird holding an olive branch. We found this image so touching that we wanted to make our own, and worked with our engraver to create this beautiful 14k gold pendant. The pendant has a brushed gold surface with a delicately carved hand engraved bird. The bird has impeccable details in the branches, eye, and dotted wing; it holds an olive branch, which is a symbol of peace, forgiveness, and starting anew. The back of the pendant has a high polish that contrasts the brushed surface of the other side of the medallion. The deep cuts in the gold add flicker and shimmer. Hand engraving is a dying art in today’s jewelry industry, but we have a great engraver with a delicate touch who makes the piece sentimental and dear with his carving.
The medallion measures 3/4” x 1/2”, plus an additional 4 x 7 mm bail. It weighs approximately 2 grams. Unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold.
