Fertility figurines have been used as icons since the Paleolithic era, and are known to be one of the earliest representations of the human form. The figurines typically portray a woman with an hourglass shape, sans arms and legs, focusing in on the female form--an image seen most famously in the Venus of Willendorf, but used repeatedly in prehistoric art, most often carved into stone, bone, and clay. This 14k gold pendant features a carving of a Venus figurine, narrower than the Venus of Willendorf sculpture, but emphasizing the curves and hourglass shape of the figure. The charm is carved out of fossilized mammoth tusk; it is not sourced from an endangered species, but is instead a fossil. The surface of the fossil has a velvety, organic feel to it with beautiful striation within its cream coloring. It has a large round 14k gold bail, so the pendant can fit on a variety of chains. Perfect as a good luck charm for fertility and creativity, and as a reminder that all life comes from the female form—this is a great piece for anyone who wants to channel female empowerment. 

The figure measures 1 1/8” x 3/8”, plus a 6.8 mm round bail. With the double bail, the pendant measures 1.5” long. It weighs 1.12 grams. Unmarked; the bail tests as 14k gold.
