14K Gold Early Victorian Navette Ring with Pave Diamonds and Central Sapphire

This is a beautiful Early Victorian navette shaped ring featuring Old Mine Cut diamonds and an elongated cushion cut natural sapphire. The navette was a popular shape in the Victorian era and you’d often see them with these type of diamond encrustations. The diamonds are Old Mine Cuts with lots of subtle differences in their shape, exhibiting the chunky facets and high tables Old Mine Cuts are known for. All of the diamonds are bead set, and the outline of the navette is scalloped so that the diamonds fit perfectly without much room for the bead setting in between to show through. As was common in the Victorian era, the ring has a silver front and gold back. The silver has a patina that adds a darker contrast and gives a moody glow to the ring. At the center of the ring, there is an elongated cushion cut sapphire with a beautiful blue green tone to it. It is set in a 14k gold bezel. The back of the ring is all gold with a delicate carriage and a simple band. We love the navette shape of the ring, which is elongated and graceful on the finger.

The ring contains approximately 40 Old Mine Cut diamonds that range in size from 2.25 - 3 mm and have a TCW of approximately 2 carats. The diamonds are Slightly Included to Included, with a slightly gray cast to them that adds to the moody, romantic feel of the ring. The natural antique sapphire measures 4.2 x 7.5 x 3.75 mm and is 1.05 of a carat.

The navette measures 1 3/8” x 1/2” and the band is 2.07 mm wide. The ring weighs 4.4 grams. Marked 585 for 14k gold.
