This vintage 14k gold and silver star pendant is adorned with rubies surrounded by a diamond pave. The natural rubies are a beautiful shade of reddish pink that sparkles against the silver face of the pendant. The central ruby is a round faceted stone, held in place by gold prongs. Five surrounding rubies are placed at the tip of each point of the star, in tear drop shaped settings with a border of delicate milgrain work. A multitude of rose cut diamonds are pave set into the star for a bright and lively sparkle.
The center ruby measures as 2.75 mm; the five smaller rubies are 1.25 mm. The front of the star is silver, while the back of the pendant, the bail, and the decorative prongs are 14k gold. The piece weighs 3 grams. The star is approximately 3/4” across; the oval bail is 5 x 7 mm.
The pendant has beautiful details and workmanship. It was separated from another piece that contained hallmarks indicating that it was made in Napoli Italy, sometime after 1968.
