Victorian Paste Crescent Moon Pendant

$250.00

Crescent moons were a popular symbol in the Victorian era, and are popular once again in contemporary jewelry. This crescent moon pendant features an exterior layer of sparkling white paste stones, and an interior layer of purple paste stones with a gorgeous amethyst hue, all hand cut with high tables in the fashion of Old European cut diamonds. The paste stones are graduated in size, arranged beautifully, and bead set into silver.  Diamonds can be quite pricy, and paste stones offer the same sparkling look but at a fraction of the price. Circa the 1890’s, this pendant carries with it the history of the Victorian era without the cost of a typical antique piece of jewelry. The crescent moon has a beautiful, mysterious feel to it with a wonderful patina and gold-tone metal back that gives the piece elegance and character.

Originally a pin, we converted this piece into a pendant by adding a teardrop-shaped 14k white gold bail. The bail has subtle beaded detail that matches the bead setting of the pendant—the bail and crescent moon are a great match and appear meant to be!

Weight: 4.3 grams. Size: 1 1/8” x 1 1/4”, not including the bail which measures 4 x 7 mm.
