14K Gold Victorian Carnelian Shield Intaglio Pendant
This is an elegant Victorian era carnelian pendant with a carved intaglio image of a shield with the initials “AK” topped with a crown. The image is carefully cut into a beautiful orange carnelian stone with sharp lines and great detail.
Victorian era intaglios were seen as a symbol of status and elegance. When pressed against a wax seal, the intaglio becomes a personal signature of its owner, and would be used to sign documents, or seal letters. Now, a beautiful pendant, we've reimagined this antique wax seal into a stunning piece of modern-day jewelry.
The carnelian intaglio has been custom fit into a 14k bezel setting and an extra large jump ring bale additionally added. The oval bale has an opening that measures 7.3 by 4.8 mm and it accommodates a variety of chain sizes. The carnelian measures 3/4” by 1/2” and is 4.5 mm deep, and the pendant weighs a total of 3.7 grams.
The carnelian stone is a radiant orange that is illuminated when backlit. This beautiful pendant makes a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.
