Georgian Era Gold Case Jewel Encrusted Watch Key Fob

On one side of this Georgian watch key fob is a rectangular bloodstone tablet, on the other side is a foil backed garnet. The garnet has a flat surface, with its faceted side facing inward, creating depth inside of the stone. It is backed with foil, making it seem to glow from within. In contrast, the bloodstone has dramatic beauty: dark shades of green and blue are flecked with red in fluid, lava-like placement. Surrounding the stones is hand engraved flowing foliate, framed by two balls that attach to the fob and bail. The handwork is lovely, with tiny lines and details that add intricate beauty.

The swivel bail brings movement to the key. The bail measures 6.7 x 5.7 mm. The key weighs 2.8 grams and is 1 1/4” tall, 3/8” wide.

Circa 1820.
