Traditionally given to newborn babies, “Blessing Locks” are gold pendants believed to bring luck, love, and success to the child’s future. They contain Chinese symbols for fortune and protection, and are typically shaped in a form reminiscent to a lock. This particular blessing lock charm is crafted from 24k gold, with intricate texture, floral motifs, and Chinese characters. It hangs from two circular bails that allow the charm to be attached to a chain. Giving a baby a blessing lock is said to represent the older generation passing down love and grace to a younger generation.
The pendant weighs 2.12 grams. It is 1 1/16” x 7/8”. The circular bails measure approximately 4.6 mm.
