British Sterling Silver Georgian Fob

A fantastic rare Georgian-era watch fob, made in sterling silver with an onyx gemstone, which today can fashion easily as a lovely pendant. The fob is 3/4 of an inch by approximately 1 inch tall. It weighs 9.2 grams and is in great condition for its age. It is rare to see a sterling silver fob such as this one, also with a deep black onyx gemstone that would have been engraved to make a seal. The gemstone remains unmarked today, but is ready for a personalized engraving of your choice. Traditionally a seal was worn by a gentleman at the end of his watch chain, and it was a symbol of status and elegance.

The sterling silver fob is marked on one side with HRJ (or HBJ) and on the other with a lion passant, and London mark, with date letter for 1793. The fob is ornate, with organic repeating motifs. The fob makes an excellent unisex gift, and a nice detail for any antique collection.
